BulkTrans was founded in 1994 by Capt H.P.S.Gill, a Merchant Marine Captain with global exposure in the logistics space. We first secured a tender of Indian Oil Corporation for the transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas from Gujarat to Delhi . We then started plying a fleet of gas tankers nationwide working with the Indian oil majors such as BPCL and IOC.
In 1996 we diversified into the automobile sector by associating with Daewoo motors for the transportation of their vehicles from the plant at U.P. to destinations around the nation. We then increased our presence in the automobile logistics sector by offering our services to other leading automobile manufacturers in India which included Maruti Udyog, Telco besides other companies.
In 1998 we entered the two wheeler transportation sector by working with Hero Honda for outbound logistics to the West and South of the country. Our self owned fleet of dedicated trucks were used to transport the motorcycles.
After using the trucking mode for the transportation of motorcycles for six years we then worked with the Indian Railways to develop a viable method of carriage of two wheelers by rail. Our efforts paid off, and in 2004 we pioneered the concept of transportation of two wheelers by rail rake in India . Today our clients are using the railway method for transportation of two wheelers leading to cost reductions, reduced transit times and lower transit damages.
We then forayed into the warehousing sector by launching a warehousing arm under the name of Teer Logistics and set up our first dedicated facility in Chennai encompassing fifty thousand square feet for the storage and distribution of two wheelers in 2004.We are presently in the process of setting up other such hubs around the country. To facilitate our warehouse management activities we developed software which is web enabled and allows out warehousing clients to check the status of their stocks and records of stock inflow and outflow at any time.
